Hiscox expands in Bermuda

Hiscox has announced the appointment of two healthcare underwriters to Hiscox Bermuda, subject to immigration approvals.

Ian Thompson, senior vice president - Healthcare and Nick Williamson, vice president - Healthcare join Hiscox to build a portfolio of healthcare liability business, complementing existing business written by Hiscox in London and the USA. The new team will focus on providing tailored coverage for larger, well-run health institutions.

Thompson and Williamson join from Endurance Specialty Insurance. Prior to this Thompson ran the Healthcare team at Catlin Group (London) from 1998 to 2006. Williamson, a qualified actuary, worked for Endurance for seven years and at ACE before this.

Charles Dupplin, chief executive of Hiscox Bermuda, said: “We are delighted to have Ian and Nick join us. They have a strong reputation and wealth of experience and this is a step towards providing more specialist products underwritten locally in the Bermudian market.”
