Bermuda chief executive to resume post in London office

Charles Dupplin Hiscox

Hiscox Bermuda’s chief executive Charles Dupplin will be returning to the company’s London office later this year after three years on the island, the insurer has confirmed.

Dupplin will complete a two-month sabbatical prior to resuming his post in the UK as head of group special projects, a role he has continued to fulfil while in Bermuda as well as that of company secretary and director of mergers and acquisitions.

His successor in Bermuda is expected to be named at the company’s mid-year results at the end of July.

Dupplin joined Hiscox in 1990 and ran its European offices between 1995 and 2000. He was appointed chairman of art and private client business, which specialises in fine art and high net worth household insurance.

Dupplin took over as Hiscox Bermuda chief executive from Robert Childs and became company secretary.

His return follows a similar move from former Hiscox USA chief executive Richard Watson, who is coming back to the UK to become group deputy chief underwriting officer.

Hiscox announced in May that Ben Walter had been promoted from chief operating officer to take over Watson’s role.

At its annual results the company also revealed that chairman Robert Hiscox would step down in 2013.
