Winter sport insurance from high street brokers is over priced, according to a leading independent provider.
Given the expense of possible medical bills, winter sport travel insurance is as essential as packing ski goggles.
As a result many holidaymakers choose the easy option of obtaining cover from the travel agent.
Independent provider Insure & Go's director Perry Wilson said: "Paying more for your policy does not guarantee a more comprehensive cover. New UK legislation forbids travel agents linking holiday discounts with free travel insurance."
One in ten skiers require treatment following an injury, and many tourists are leaving themselves under-insured, they said.
