Insurers braced for Greek holiday home wildfire claims

Insurers are bracing themselves for claims from holiday homes hit by the Greek wildfires.

Fire has ripped through parts of Greece, destroying virtually everything in its wake, including insured holiday homes. 91 people are dead so far.

Hiscox chief executive Bronek Masojada said: ’We will inevitably have some losses from the fires

‘I would be very surprised if we didn’t have some holiday homes affected.’ 

There would be no hit to profits though. Hiscox delivered strong results in its half-year posting.
