When it comes to disasters, insurers know best. This is the key finding of a new BBC1 programme investigating how insurers help families hit by floods, fires and storms.

Twofour Productions has teamed up with the UK insurance industry to show what happens once disaster strikes. Accidents can happen presenter Nadia Sawalha follows ten families as their homes are rescued from devastation.

Producer Simon Walton said: "Lloyds TSB comes across in the show as very good. One of the key findings is that splitting, say your home and contents insurance, and then choosing a different insurer for your building insurance can cause real problems.

"Many of the families decided to put all their insurance under one roof, so to speak."

The five-part series, Accidents can happen, starts on 12 July 2004 on BBC1 at 10am.
