Backchat has often accused insurers of talking balls, but he would always draw the line at a prestigious member of the National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers.

Unless, of course, it was rising celebrity Paul Quastel, boss of the eponymous valuation firm in North London, who is appearing in a TV commercial for fast food giant McDonalds.

In the advert, which is a spoof of the Antiques Road Show, Paul demonstrates his expertise by accurately valuing Ronald McDonald's golden McNuggets.

But he assures Backchat that this is the first time he has been talking balls.


The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
