Staff at Insurance Times, and the insurance industry as a whole, were shocked at the news that former Insurance Times editor Keith Stewart, pictured right, died suddenly over the weekend.

Stewart was one of Insurance Times' longest serving editors, working from 1992-1998. He saw the magazine move from a monthly title to a weekly newspaper in 1994.

Allianz Cornhill spokeswoman Sharon Curd said: "Keith was a consummate professional and a good friend to those who knew him. A thoroughly decent guy. My colleague Mark Bishop and I will miss his company very much."

Len Roberts, who worked with Keith for many years at Insurance Times, added: "He was a popular, larger-than-life character and it was a pleasure to work with him."

The funeral will take place Wednesday 10 September at 10.05am. The procession will leave from Keith's home at 112 Bulwer Road, High Barnet, EN5. Flowers can be sent to this address.

Mrs L Stewart hopes many of Keith's old friends and colleagues will be able to attend.
