Insurance broker Jardine Lloyd Thompson has appointed Tony Hobson, Geoffrey Howe and Bob Scott as non-executive directors of the group.

The appointments will be effective from 1 January 2002.

Robert Tomkinson and Eric de Rothschild will both retire as non-executive directors from 31 December 2001.

Hobson, a chartered accountant, is a non-executive director of HBOS and Glas Cymru. He is also the chairman of the audit committee of both companies. At Jardine Lloyd Thompson, he will also take on the position of chairman of the Audit & Compliance Committee.

Howe is a director of The Fleming Overseas Investment Trust and the United Bank of Kuwait.

Scott is a non-executive director of The Royal Bank of Scotland, a trustee of the Crimestoppers trust and a vice-president of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Richard Sermon, who has been a non-executive director of Jardine Lloyd Thompson since 1996, will become the senior independent director.
