Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) Specialty has hired professional indemnity veteran Martin Ellis as head of UK Professions in its financial lines division.

Ellis who has 30 years’ experience in the market joins from Willis where he led the UK professional indemnity practice.

He is the co-founder of specialist Lloyd’s broker, Prime Professions, which was acquired by Willis in 2013.

He will take up his new role at JLT on 4 July.

JLT manages and places professional indemnity insurance for a broad range of professional services firms including more than 1,200 legal practices in England and Wales.

Financial Lines chief executive Mark Wood said: “We are very pleased to be gaining Martin’s wealth of experience and expertise. He has a proven track record in attracting and retaining clients and building successful and respected teams representing the professional services sector.

“He will play an integral role on building on the success we have already achieved in our Professional Indemnity business.”
