Richard Bauckham appointed specialist vehicle underwriter

KGM Motor Insurance has appointed Richard Bauckham as class underwriter for specialist vehicle.

Reporting to the deputy underwriter Neil Manvell, his primary responsibility will be to oversee the performance and development of KGM’s specialist vehicle account. Bauckham will work closely with broker partners to develop scheme opportunities within the class.

He will be the main liaison between KGM and its brokers in the implementation of any enhancements to existing products, including the introduction of new developments to KGM’s specialist vehicle portfolio.

Bauckham joins KGM from NIG where he was product manager for its motorcycle account for the past two years. During that time, he reviewed and overhauled its main motorcycle product and introduced a programme to review its specialised schemes. Prior to this, Bauckham spent 11 years at Highway Insurance ultimately as motorcycle underwriting manager with full responsibility for the account.

Neil Manvell said: “KGM has historically and consistently provided quality products to this niche area of the motor market. Richard is a motor enthusiast himself with a particular passion for restoring and racing classic bikes, so he’s ideally placed to understand the needs of specialist vehicle devotees.

"The policies and claims service we develop have to match the exacting requirements of our brokers and policyholders and Richard brings an outstanding level of knowledge of this type of business to the team. I am confident that his expertise will contribute significantly to the ongoing development of our specialist vehicle portfolio. ”
