Loss adjuster QuestGates unveils latest deal

Loss adjuster QuestGates has bought Belfast-based property loss adjusting firm Neill, Simms & Company.

Neill, Simms & Company’s team of Barry Neill, Barry Lorimer and Angela Magowan will be integrated into QuestGates’ existing Northern Ireland office in Belfast.

The acquired firm was established in 1992 and provides loss adjusting services across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, with a particular focus on property and construction.

The latest deal for QuestGates follows its purchase of a majority stake in London-based Hyperion Adjusters in July.

QuestGates regional director for Ireland Glen Donaldson says: “We’ve known Barry for a number of years and have huge respect for the technical expertise he and his team have.

“They are extremely well regarded within the Irish insurance industry and we are delighted that we can now count them as members of our own team.

Barry Neill added: “I have greatly enjoyed running my own business for the last 25 years. I am delighted that I find in QuestGates an owner managed ethos with which we can readily identify and which will enable me and my team to broaden our services to our clients around the investigation and handling of their claims.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
