Striker formally charged by police

Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez (pictured) has been charged with driving without insurance and while disqualified, according to Cheshire Police.

The Argentinian footballer was arrested last Thursday near his home in Alderley Edge, and was formally charged yesterday. He has been bailed and will appear at Macclesfield Magistrates’ Court on 3 April.

In a statement, Cheshire Police said: “Cheshire Constabulary has charged a 29-year-old man from Alderley Edge with offences of driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

“The man was arrested on the A538 in Macclesfield at 5.13pm on Thursday 7 March and later released on police bail.”
