James Leach joins from Sirius International

Markel has appointed James Leach as contingency underwriter to develop its diverse specialty division.

Leach joins Markel from Sirius International where he worked for two years becoming assistant underwriter.

Previously he spent seven years in sports management and founded a boutique sports agency.

Leach said: “I look forward to taking up my role at Markel International and contributing to the growth of an already profitable portfolio of business.”

Jeremy Brazil, president of MIICL and active underwriter syndicate 3000, added: “I am delighted that we have attracted someone with James’s background. His previous experience in sports management will be a valuable asset to our contingency book.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
