Broker expands global construction claims capabilities with purchase of the Nielsen-Wurster Group.

Marsh has acquired the assets of The Nielsen-Wurster Group’s Construction Claims & Dispute Resolution business.

As part of the transaction, more than 30 Nielsen-Wurster professionals and staff will join Marsh, including Reza Nikain, president of the acquired firm.

The new team will serve in Marsh’s Forensic Accounting & Claims Services (FACS) Construction Consulting Practice, as Marsh continues to enhance its construction dispute and advisory capabilities.

For the past 30 years, Nielsen-Wurster has provided management consulting, risk management and dispute resolution services globally to the construction, legal, regulatory, engineering, industrial and commercial sectors.

In a statement Marsh said Nikain would be responsible for leading the growth of the firm’s construction claims and dispute resolution services.

Marsh’s FACS Construction Consulting Practice now has more than 50 employees, including professional engineers, certified public accountants, project managers, schedule experts, architects, attorneys, and contract specialists, who assist clients with construction risk assessment, transfer, management, and recovery.

John Merkovsky, Global Leader of Marsh’s Risk Consulting Practice, said: “I am delighted to welcome Reza Nikain and the Nielsen-Wurster group to Marsh. The combination of our strong existing forensic and risk consulting practice in the United States, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East with Nielsen-Wurster’s tradition of excellence built over three decades of experience gives us the ability to offer clients an unparalleled solution set to the many challenges that accompany construction and capital projects.”

Nikain added: “Marsh has a great reputation for delivering outstanding client service, particularly for its construction clients. Integrating Nielsen-Wurster’s strong brand and expertise with this platform allows us to expand our capacity and increase our service spectrum in various markets. I look forward to working with John, Ken and other Marsh colleagues in further broadening FACS capabilities and serving our clients.”
