MMA APPOINT IAN JOSEPHS TO SPEARHEAD DEVELOPMENT OF ELECTRONIC TRADING

Intermediary-only insurer, MMA Insurance has appointed Ian Josephs as electronic distribution manager to spearhead future development in its electronic trading capabilities.

Josephs is responsible for building on the success of MMA’s existing electronic distribution facilities including the web-based Broker Online service, and the company’s relationship with its software house partners. He will focus on improving MMA’s profile and ability to bring products to the market faster and more effectively via these distribution platforms.

Commenting on the appointment, Paul Hodgson, head of underwriting at MMA, said: “MMA is committed to a programme of recruitment to attract the best talent from across the industry to ensure that we offer our intermediaries a service that will make a real difference to their business.

“Ian’s experience and knowledge of the electronic trading market is very important to MMA as we continually aim to deliver the best electronic solutions to our intermediaries.

“Ian will help us to better deliver the underwriting expertise MMA is recognised for and ensure we continue to focus on making it easier for brokers to do business with us.”

Josephs joins MMA from Fortis where he was electronic business manager. He oversaw the implementation of a number of software house EDI, key intermediary and affinity developments. Prior to this, Jospehs also worked for Folgate Insurance, where he was responsible for building and testing electronic trading products.

Currently, 85% of commercial new business through products such as property owners and motor trade road risks is transacted via Broker Online. In May this year, MMA became the first insurer to offer full cycle EDI household schemes via Insurecom.
