Mondial UK, part of Elvia Travel Insurance boosted its travel insurance sales by 38% in 2006 due to a focus on e-tourism and solid growth in the travel industry.

The company said the rise was helped by winning a considerable number of international contracts covering over 29 countries. In addition the company which is a member of Mondial Assistance Group has over 30 partners, also contributing to the doubling of its e-tourism sales last year. Mondial Assistance claims its e-commerce platform records over 1,200 policies an hour.

Mike Webb, managing director of Mondial UK said: "2006 has been an encouraging year for the Group, with turnover up by 12% and net profit by 17%. For Europe, as a mature market, innovation has played a key factor, and our successes here in the UK reflect this with the growth of our dynamic packaging solutions for online travel operators. "The Group strategy through to 2011 aims to reinforce its international leadership and we will be working closely with our country members to share developments and benefit our own clients."

Whilst 95% of its services continue to be distributed through business-to-business channels, new business-to-consumer distribution channels will be an important area for diversification for the Group moving forward.
