MMA has appointed former SunAlliance executive Scott Nelson as its new chairman.

The appointment follows the death of previous chairman Peter Woolterton last year.

Nelson joined the MMA board as a non-executive director in 2000. Previously he worked for over 25 years at SunAlliance, where he ultimately became group finance director.

MMA chief executive Garry Fearn commented: “Scott has already made a significant contribution to the success of MMA as a non-executive director. The knowledge and experience of the sector he will now bring to the Chairman role is invaluable and will play an important part in the next stage of MMA's growth strategy.”

Nelson said: “This is an exciting time to take on this role and I look forward to working with the MMA team."
