Technology company Polaris has developed a new key security product to prevent the theft of cars from people's homes.

Euromaster Key Security has been created to help prevent a new type of car crime in which thieves use bamboo poles, with magnets or hooks attached to the end, to snatch car keys from homes and make off with cars.

It features security slots for keys - which can then be removed only by someone with an access peg - and a lockable case.

Euromaster managing director Richard Green said: "Thieves are targeting households because people are careless with their keys.

"But there is no way anyone could get keys away from this system, unless they are authorised."

The product has been used for some time by car dealerships and police but has been redesigned for the domestic market.
