’I’m confident that together, we will deliver on our strategy and continue to shape a sustainable and customer-focused insurer for the long-term,’ says chief executive

Ageas UK has unveiled a new executive team as it officially starts the integration of Esure.

The insurer revealed yesterday (30 September 2025) that it had completed its acquisition of Esure after agreeing to purchase it from Bain Capital in April 2025.

It came after Ageas confirmed in December 2024 that its 20-year proposed partnership with Saga – including the acquisition of underwriting business Acromas Insurance Company (AICL) – had been formally agreed by both parties.

Ageas said that in order to build a unified business, UK chief executive Ant Middle has made changes to the executive team. The announcement comes after the insurer confirmed that David McMillan and Peter Bole will step down from their respective roles as chief executive and chief finanfical officer at Esure.

Reporting to Middle, the newly appointed executive team will include the following leaders:

  • Adam Beckett, managing director for broker and partnerships
  • Alan MacEwan, chief customer and operations officer
  • Andy Burton, interim chief technology officer
  • Caroline Smith, chief people officer
  • Helen Cooper, chief risk officer
  • Jonathan Price, chief financial officer
  • Peter Martin-Simon, chief executive at Esure and managing director – direct
  • Stephen Linklater, chief claims officer
  • Thomas Quirke, chief underwriting officer

‘Brilliant people’

These changes are subject to regulatory approval, which are expected in early in 2026.

In the meantime, the business will continue to operate under the current Ageas UK and Esure leadership and governance structures, with transition arrangements being agreed to ensure a smooth and seamless handover.

Middle said: ”I am fortunate to work with some brilliant people with a diverse range of expertise and industry experience, which made it an incredibly tough decision when integrating two teams. However, in bringing together exceptional talent from both Ageas and Esure, we have a leadership team with the depth and experience to drive our integration and future success.

”I’m confident that together, we will deliver on our strategy and continue to shape a sustainable and customer-focused insurer for the long-term.

“As we welcome leaders into the new team, I want to take a moment to thank those who are moving on or transitioning to new roles. Their invaluable contributions have helped shape the business we are today and their legacy will continue to influence our journey.”
