’As a manager, he was thoughtful, compassionate and unwaveringly supportive,’ says broker

BMS Group has announced that its colleague Chris Madell has passed away.

Madell joined the broker in 2020 as its director of global lines and was promoted to managing director of financial and professional lines a year later.

He moved to the London-based firm after spending multiple years working in Australia with various firms, including Chubb and Allstate Underwriting Agency.

In a LinkedIn post, BMS said Madell was a “talented broker, underwriter and leader in his field”.

’Exceptional person’

The broker added that he ”was also an exceptional person and good human”.

“In his short time at BMS he had an incredible impact on us all,” it said.

“As a manager, he was thoughtful, compassionate and unwaveringly supportive. He had a unique way of making everyone feel valued and respected, regardless of their role, background, or experience – and he fostered an environment where everyone felt empowered to grow.

“His kindness, integrity and warmth were evident in everything he did and he had a gift for bringing out the best in everyone around him.

“Madell was an inspiration to all who had the pleasure of meeting him and he never lost his fighting spirit, determination and sense of humour throughout his treatment – right until the end.

“Our thoughts and hearts go out to his family as they come to terms with this huge loss.”
