Hodges had been working for British Gas since quitting Towergate in 2014

Ex-Towergate boss Mark Hodges has joined Swiss Re-owned ReAssure as its new chief executive.

Hodges is currently working for British Gas as chief executive of its Centrica Consumer division, but will leave to take ReAssure through an anticipated initial public offering (IPO). He will begin in his new role on 1 March 2019.

Before working for British Gas, Hodges was Aviva UK chief executive and group chief executive of Towergate.

Joining Towergate in September 2011 with a big reputation after his time at Aviva, it all came crashing down in October 2014 when he dramatically quit the group, having overseen a turbulent period that almost destroyed the group entirely.

But Swiss Re said it was delighted to have secured Hodges’ appointment.

Swiss Re Life Capital chief executive Thierry Léger, said: “We are very pleased to have Mark Hodges as the new chief executive for ReAssure.

“He combines strong leadership skills with deep industry knowledge. I am confident that he is the right person to lead ReAssure through the next stage of its development into an even more successful future.”
