Ian Burford has joined Fidelis Insurance as the new chief executive of Fidelis Underwriting Limited (FUL), having first joined the insurer as chairman of specialised risk in 2017. Burford had previously worked as joint active underwriter and underwriting performance director for Novae.

Meanwhile, Fidelis founder member Daniel Burrows has been promoted to the role of group managing director after first joining the business in 2015.

Chairman and group chief executive Richard Brindle said: “I am delighted Dan has accepted the position of group managing director. Dan will report to me and we will work together to support the growth and strategy across Fidelis’ Four Pillars.”

Brindle added: “Ian joined Fidelis in August 2017 as our chairman of specialised risks. He has led the FUL team commendably during his tenure as interim CEO and I am delighted to officially formalise Ian’s appointment as our CEO for FUL, reporting to Dan and supporting his new position as group managing director.”
