The firm will also rebrand a previous acquisition to launch the Gallagher brand in Ireland

Gallagher has acquired Doyle Mahon Insurance in a move intended to expand the broker’s presence in Ireland.

Announced today (3 November 2022), Gallagher’s purchase of the Wexford-based broker forms part of its strategy to demonstrate its commitment to “growing its customer and employee base” in the country.

Founded in 2009 by Pat Doyle and Colm Mahon, Doyle Mahon is a commercial and agriculture insurance broker based in Ardcavan, Wexford.

Doyle Mahon’s clients will continue to access services via their usual contacts but will benefit from a larger suite of products and services, said a Gallagher statement.

This move into Ireland by Gallagher follows its acquisition of Wexford-based motor broker Innovu in June earlier this year – Gallagher has also announced that it will rebrand Innovu to Gallagher next week (7 November 2022) in a move to establish its brand in the country.

Continued expansion

Ronan Foley, chief executive of Gallagher in Ireland, said: “I’m delighted the team at Doyle Mahon is joining Gallagher.

“This is a great business with a well-established name in professional insurance broking built over the last 13 years.

“Its addition to Gallagher in Ireland recognises our continued expansion in the country and complements our overall national growth strategy.”

Foley added that Gallagher remained “on the lookout” for further acquisitions in Ireland and wanted to establish itself as the “go-to broker” in the country.

Mahon said he was pleased to be part of Gallagher’s “ambitious growth plans” and that his customers would experience “business as usual” following the purchase.

He added: “[Customers] will continue to be supported by our excellent team in Wexford, however by becoming part of a global business we can further enhance our service and product offering.”
