Why did you put yourselves forward for the category?

Jon Cope, managing director for UK specialty lines at Intact Insurance

We entered this category because we believe Intact Insurance is helping redefine what meaningful inclusion looks like in insurance. Guided by our belief that insurance is about people, not things, we challenge ourselves to identify overlooked communities and create innovative solutions that help people thrive.

Through our Forces Family Support Policy, we have introduced practical support including paid leave for deployment-related activities, additional flexibility for military family commitments and tailored wellbeing support. This entry demonstrates how we are turning inclusive values into action, helping military families grow with us while influencing change across the wider insurance market.

What do you think makes your entry stand out and why should you win the award?

Our entry stands out because it is creating change far beyond Intact Insurance. While many employers focus on supporting serving personnel, military families have often been overlooked as a distinct inclusion group. We identified that gap and took action, developing support shaped by lived experience and designed around the realities of military family life.

What started as an employee-led initiative is now influencing the wider market through industry engagement, employer collaboration and military career programmes. Today, Intact is driving greater recognition of military families across insurance and helping establish a benchmark for military family inclusion throughout the industry.

What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?

Winning this award would be a proud moment for everyone involved in bringing this initiative to life, particularly the colleagues whose lived experiences helped shape it. It would recognise our commitment to supporting military-connected colleagues and our ambition to drive meaningful inclusion beyond the boundaries of our own organisation.

Most importantly, it would help raise awareness of the challenges military families can face and demonstrate the difference employers can make through practical support. We hope that recognition would encourage more organisations to take action and accelerate positive change across the insurance industry.
