Natalie Larnder, partner and head of market affairs at Keoghs, explains her firm’s entry to the Business Partner of the Year – strategic and professional services category

1. Why did you put yourselves forward for the category?

We entered this category because Keoghs’ market affairs team offers something genuinely distinctive to the insurance market.

Rather than simply monitoring political and regulatory developments, we proactively identify emerging risks, shape industry discussions and create opportunities for insurers to engage directly with policymakers.

There is no other dedicated team within the legal services sector working with insurers at this depth and scale.

Our recent engagement in the leasehold and commonhold reforms is a strong example of that approach in action. Our team brought together insurers, parliamentarians and industry bodies to ensure insurance considerations became part of the wider policy debate.

2. What do you think makes your entry stand out and why should you win the award?

Our entry stands out because very few organisations operate in the space between insurance, politics and regulation in the way we do.

At a time of significant economic and regulatory change, combined with an increasingly fragmented political landscape, ensuring the industry’s voice is heard has never been more important or more difficult.

Our role is not simply to monitor developments, but to shape discussions, build relationships and create opportunities for meaningful engagement.

While the value of that work cannot always be measured through a single financial metric, the risks of poor policy outcomes are real and significant, making this work more important than ever.

3. What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?

Winning this award would be tremendous recognition for a team that works tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the insurance industry’s voice is heard.

Public affairs and stakeholder engagement often requires long-term commitment, with success measured through influence and relationships. For Keoghs, it would validate our belief that effective engagement with government, parliament, regulators and industry stakeholders can deliver real value for the insurance industry.

More broadly, it would highlight the growing importance of informed, constructive engagement in helping policymakers better understand the critical role insurance plays across society and the economy.
