Tori Butler, managing director of SME at Superscript, explains her firm’s entry to the Customer Champion of the Year – Broker category
1. Why did you put yourselves forward for the category?
We entered Customer Champion of the Year because we believe good broking starts with understanding customers’ needs and making insurance as straightforward as possible.

Our work with Amazon Now brings this to life. We developed a dedicated digital insurance proposition that makes it quick and simple for self-employed e-bike riders to get the liability and personal accident cover they need to start work. Rather than navigating generic insurance products, riders have a journey designed around their specific requirements.
The result is an experience where 99.5% of journeys are completed digitally, with customers able to buy a policy in under four minutes.
2. What do you think makes your entry stand out and why should you win the award?
What makes our entry stand out is that we started with the customer’s needs, not an existing insurance product. We developed a first-of-its-kind digital insurance journey in the UK for Amazon Now riders, making it simple to get the right cover and evidence of insurance before starting work.
The results speak for themselves – 66% quote-to-purchase conversion, 99.5% digital completion for more than 1,000 riders.
It reflects our approach to putting customers at the heart of everything we do – using technology to remove friction, while applying our insurance expertise behind the scenes to make the experience work for them.
3. What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?
Winning would be a brilliant recognition of the teams who worked together to understand a new customer group and build an insurance experience around their needs.
It would also validate a principle that matters to us at Superscript – customers shouldn’t have to carry complexity simply because insurance can be complicated.
Our role as a broker is to understand that challenge and make the experience clearer and easier. Recognition from the judges would reinforce that approach as we continue developing propositions for businesses and people whose risks and ways of working are continuously evolving.
