Insurer hires ex-Axa XL broker manager for distribution role

Global commercial insurer Sompo has appointed Allan Murley as its new head of insurance distribution for the UK.

In his new role, Murley will become responsible for managing the co-ordination, development and implementation of Sompo’s UK distribution activities both in the London Market and across the regions.

Murley bring more than 30 years of experience to the role, including 14 years at Zurich, where he held roles such as head of broker development and head of business development. 

He will join Sompo from Axa XL, where he worked as head of UK broker management, having joined the insurer in 2019 as part of its acquisition of the XL Group, where he was client and distribution leader.

The new role will be based in London and become effective in Q4 2024.
