’We have created a broker shaped by decades of automotive experience that’s built with the sole purpose of protecting our sector,’ says chief executive

The Independent Garage Association (IGA) has announced the launch of RMI Insurance Services, a new independent insurance broker.

Created exclusively for the automotive sector, the broker will give businesses direct access to insurance designed around their needs.

It has received full FCA approval and will begin trading from 15 September 2025.

IGA said: “By developing this service in-house, RMI Insurance Services ensures that every policy is placed with the best interests of the automotive sector at its core.

“Built on years of experience in supporting businesses across the automotive industry, the service provides tailored insurance solutions designed specifically for the motor trade.”

‘Major step forward’

IGA is a representative body in the independent garage sector and offers advice, information and services.

Stuart James, chief executive at IGA, said that RMI Insurance Services represents a “major step forward in the support we provide to our members and the wider industry”.

He added: “By bringing this vital service under our umbrella, we have created a broker shaped by decades of automotive experience that’s built with the sole purpose of protecting our sector.

“We have secured a range of enhanced covers to be included as standard, together with rates significantly lower than insurers standard open market rates, ensuring members receive outstanding value alongside expert, independent advice.”
