’I look forward to joining such an excellent team and to the challenge of stepping into this role, helping to continue that momentum,’ says appointee
Policy Expert has appointed Matt Wilson as chief financial officer as the personal lines insurance firm continues to strengthen its executive team ahead of its next phase of expansion.

Wilson joins from specialty insurer and reinsurer Convex Group, where he served as UK chief financial officer. During his time with the business, he helped support its growth to more than $5bn (£3.7bn) in gross written premium and played a role in the company’s acquisition last year.
At Policy Expert, he will lead the insurer’s financial strategy, supporting growth across its home, motor and pet insurance businesses.
Wilson said: “Policy Expert has a proven track record of consistent growth in a toughening insurance market, whilst keeping customers at the heart of everything it does.
”I look forward to joining such an excellent team and to the challenge of stepping into this role, helping to continue that momentum.”
Experience
The appointment follows the retirement of Kevin Chidwick, who spent four years with the insurer after a 40-year career in the insurance sector.

Policy Expert said Chidwick helped guide the business through a period of strong financial performance.
For the year ending 31 December 2025, the insurer reported revenue of £210.3m, up 2.7% year-on-year.
Steve Hardy, chief executive at Policy Expert, said: “Wilson is an outstanding appointment for us. He combines real technical depth in the actuarial and capital side of insurance with the commercial instincts of someone who has helped grow a business from the start.
”Just as importantly, he is a proven leader and will bring energy and further clarity to our financial team. His experience will be invaluable to Policy Expert as we continue to scale.”

His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
