Insurance Times rounds up the most significant appointments, hires and leadership developments from 19 to 23 October 2026
This week’s round up of the biggest people moves in the UK general insurance industry starts with PIB Group-owned Cobra Network’s announcement that Jo Russell will succeed Andy Tedstone as chief executive.

Serving at Cobra Network for the past six years, Russell was most recently its director of sales and marketing.
Following on from his departure from Cobra Network, it was also revealed that Acrisure had appointed Tedstone as chief executive of its UK retail business, effective from April 2027.
He will be responsible for driving the next phase of Acrisure UK retail’s development.
Next, Simply Business appointed Kulchetan Sanga as UK chief commercial officer and Mark Potter as managing director of its MGA.
Sanga, who succeeds Jodi Cartwright in his new role, will lead the commercial function, overseeing key partnerships, product strategy and customer propositions. Meanwhile, Potter will lead the company’s in-house MGA.
Then, JMG Group appointed Ian Muldowney as managing director of its Chester-based broker, Grosvenor Insurance, as it looks to accelerate growth in the Cheshire market.
In his new role, he will focus on both organic and acquisitive growth opportunities across Cheshire, while continuing to develop Grosvenor’s specialist capabilities.
Finally, Source Insurance appointed Simon Thomas as managing director as the home and landlord broker looks to build on its growth and explore new market opportunities.
Working with the Source board, Thomas will focus on developing new opportunities and strengthening relationships across the insurance market.
