Insurance Times rounds up the most significant appointments, hires and leadership developments from 26 to 30 October 2026

In the lead up to Halloween, there have been some shufflings in the market. At the beginning of the week, Ardonagh appointed ex-Acrisure leader Mark McIlquham as chief executive at Orvia Underwriting after the broker group adopted the brand across its suite of MGA businesses.

Appointed to help lead the operation, McIlquham will work alongside Ardonagh operating partner Chris Lay, who joined in April this year to work on group strategy and support the next phase of growth.

Next, Qlaims appointed Chris Boggis as its new claims director.

In his new role, Boggis will lead Qlaims’ adjusting practice, bringing nearly two decades of experience across the insurance claims sector.

Then, Arkel promoted Matthew Birney to managing director with immediate effect as the specialist MGA looks to build on a period of growth.

Birney will lead the strategic direction of the Atec Group-owned business, with responsibility for commercial performance and strengthening relationships with insurers, brokers and distribution partners.

Following this, John Lewis Money appointed Charles Offord as director of financial services.

With six years experience as managing director of Co-op Insurance, Offord is set to join on 18 November 2026 and also take a position on the John Lewis Finance board.

Finally, Zurich’s group chief executive, Mario Greco, confirmed to Insurance Times that the appointment of Kristof Terryn to lead the newly bought Beazley business is akin to an interim position, designed to support the post-acquisition integration process rather than being a long-term hire.

This follows Zurich announcing in February 2026 that it had agreed to acquire London-centric cyber specialist insurer Beazley in a deal amounting to £8.1bn.
