The broker has ‘ambitious plans in the months ahead,’ says new chief executive

Commercial insurance brokerage and underwriting agency Yutree Insurance has restructured its board of directors with the aim of further driving its growth agenda.

The move will see Kevin Hancock head up the helm as the company’s new chief executive, a statement released earlier this week (26 April 2023) said.

It added Laura Hancock was chosen for the role of managing director, while Simon Miller was appointed as commercial director.

Meanwhile, co-founder Leigh Smart has stepped back as chairman of Yutree Insurance and will now serve as non-executive director – he will remain chairman of holding company Yutree Group.

Yutree said that the board’s “evolved” responsibilities will “support its next chapter of development”.

Role changes

Kevin Hancock’s new role will see him focus on the strategy and positioning of the company, while Laura Hancock will ensure the strategy is implemented across the entire business.

Miller, on the other hand, will focus on the client-facing aspects of the business.

Kevin Hancock said that “all board members are highly experienced industry players” that bring a “shared belief to deliver the company’s ambitious plans in the months and years ahead”.

He added: “The appointment of Laura as managing director is an exciting milestone in our growth and reflects her increasing influence and leadership both within Yutree as well as reflecting her wider industry influence through her roles with both Biba and the CII.

“Simon is well placed to take up the role of commercial director and we are ever grateful to Leigh for his support, knowledge and experience as we scale up our ongoing pursuit for growth.”

He added the business will be making a senior appointment in retail broking this summer.
