NIG is set to increase its numbers of commercial lines underwriters who sit in brokers' offices.

An NIG spokesman said that the business had a handful of underwriters who sit in brokers' offices, similar to the Norwich Union (NU) Bonus scheme.

He said that as part of NIG's expansion, the number of these underwriters would increase "in line with commercial opportunities".

A source close to NU said NIG had made offers to a number of its Bonus underwriters in recent weeks.

Bonus was recently expanded by NU to encompass smaller brokers.

Traditionally, only brokers with big NU accounts have justified having an underwriter in their office.
