NIG underwriting director Mike Crane will join ABC Insurance in the New Year.

Crane will take up the role of head of broker underwriting at ABC, LV’s broker distribution brand.

The company expects him to join early in 2008, but a date has not yet been set.

A spokesman for the insurer confirmed that Crane, who has been with NIG since 2003, was set to leave.

Crane’s departure follows a succession of staff leaving NIG for ABC. Last year, ABC named Phil Bunker, the former managing director of NIG, as its head.

In August, Mick Davis, former regional manager of NIG’s Leeds branch, became head of ABC’s Sheffield branch and Kim Chambers, also from NIG, was appointed branch underwriting manager.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
