Newman Martin and Buchan Limited (NMB) launches a capital markets division to complement its reinsurance advisory and placement services.

Lloyd's insurance and reinsurance broker, Newman Martin and Buchan Limited (NMB) has widened its footprint in the capital market with the launch of a new specialist division.

Mark Burbidge and Paul Dunster have joined the company to run the capital markets division, which will offer a range of services including the design, structure, and implementation of bespoke capital market solutions.

Chris Sims, managing director of NMB, said: "The idea of accessing the capital markets for risk transfer is now very much in the mainstream and we believe that insurance and reinsurance buyers will increasingly consider them as a necessary component of their capital management strategy."

The new team will give NMB clients access to global capital markets capacity either as a stand alone solution or to complement traditional (re)insurance products.

Burbidge added: "The convergence of the banking and traditional reinsurance markets makes it possible to access the vast resources of the capital markets to achieve risk transfer. We believe that the interest of these markets in the insurance sector is here to stay and it represents a real opportunity for insurance and reinsurance buyers."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
