Northampton-based broker Insurance Linx has bought the business of Southend-based firm Rimington’s Finance and Insurance Brokers, its seventh acquisition in six years.

The acquisition will take Insurance Linx close to £5m in gross written premium (GWP).

Rimington’s has been trading for over 40 years. As a result of the acquisition owners, Bill Rimington and his wife Janet retire from the business.

Insurance Linx executive chairman Michael Bray said: “We have now made seven commercial broker acquisitions in the past six years and gained much experience of the acquisition process along the way.

“Our purchase of Rimington’s will add close to £1m GWP of high quality clients to our business and I am sure that it will prove as successful for us as our previous acquisitions have been, both for Insurance Linx and the vendors of the businesses that we have purchased.

“Our considered approach to the integration of an acquisition within Insurance Linx and our attention to detail both pre and post-acquisition are the key to maximising the benefits for both ourselves and our clients.”
