The British Olympic Association (BOA) is facing premium increases of more than 100% to insure the UK Winter Olympics team - and the team has still not bought cover.
Last month, Insurance Times reported that the BOA had not purchased special 17-day cover for the team, due to compete in Salt Lake City in February.
A spokesman said the BOA was in negotiations with brokers about buying special cover, but was facing premiums at least twice as high as expected. "But whatever happens to the price, we will have funds to cover it," he said.
The source said the price hike was due to the lack of terrorism cover available in the market following the 11 September attacks.
Meanwhile, Salt Lake City Cor-poration (SLCC) is being forced to self-insure because no cover exists for law-enforcement liability, according to a SLCC risk manager.
