This painting called Peasants Outside a Farm was one of four paintings by 19th century British artists stolen from an art gallery in Sevenoaks, Kent.

The four oil on canvas paintings with a total insured value of £18,500 were taken during a burglary on October 24.

The three other paintings were All Saved by Thomas Rose Miles, measuring 30 x 50in, Saint Michael Mount by James Webb (30x54in) and A Norfolk Farm by Kenneth Denton (24x37). Peasants Outside a Farm was painted by George Lara in 1864 and measures 14.25 x 24.25in.

Miles and Webb both had works exhibited at the Royal Academy in the 1880s.
