Former Wellington boss to leave Catlin for Close Brothers

Preben Prebensen, the former Wellington Underwriting boss until its takeover by Catlin, is to leave his job as chief investment officer with Catlin to be CEO of Close Brothers.

Prior to insurance he had 20 years banking experience at JP Morgan.

Strone Macpherson, chairman of Close Brothers, said: “I am delighted Preben has agreed to join Close Brothers. We ran an extensive international process to find a chief executive as well suited to running Close Brothers as he is. He brings a wealth of experience, strategic insight and capital markets expertise from his notable career at JP Morgan and his time as chief executive of Wellington Underwriting and group chief investment officer at Catlin.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
