The Insurance Institute of Croydon dinner went well last Friday, raising £1,500 for charities.

But the lead-up to the annual event was far from calm. Last week, the institute found it had lost its prize trophy - due to be awarded at the dinner.

The Sheikh Bowl, a crystal bowl on a silver stand, was last seen in November 2000.

But all is not lost - the trophy was insured by the current president's company, Royal & SunAlliance.

Apparently the institute is now hoping it will waive the deductible
