RBS Insurance has hired Bob Spencer as head of counter-fraud.

Spencer will lead development, implementation and management of fraud detection and handling strategy across the claims division. He will report into Steve Dalloz, claims commercial and assurance director.

He was previously head of application fraud at Lloyd’s Banking Group and before that, head of retail fraud at HBOS.

“Bob’s experience and insight will help us to identify the areas where we can develop our counter-fraud procedures, while maintaining efficiency,” Dalloz said in a statement.  In addition, Michael Brown will  join Spencer’s counter-fraud team on 7 November as head of the counter-fraud intelligence function. He was previously head of intelligence at the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). Before that he was the SRA’s senior fraud intelligence officer.

“We are continually looking at new and improved ways to combat fraud, so the knowledge that Michael will bring to the role will go a long way to ensure we are using intelligence in the right way in conjunction with our overall counter fraud strategy,” Spencer said.
