Frenetic morning trading sees 14m shares exchanged
RSA shares leapt 5.69% this morning following market speculation of bid interest from Zurich Financial Services, according to Reuters.
The insurer saw its price rise 8.20p to 154.10p.
A spokesman for Zurich Financial, whose shares were up 1.8%, said the company never comments on market rumours or speculation.
The news agency reported that more than 14 million RSA shares changed hands by 10:55 a.m, compared with a full-day average of 19.2 million in the past 30 days.
At 3p.m. share prices had levelled off slightly to 152.40p, a rise of 4.53%.
