Dr Sandy Scott has been appointed the new director general of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

A former Major in the army, 44-year-old Scott has held a number of senior positions in industry.

He was deputy managing director of PPP Healthcare from 1989 to 1997 before becoming MD of Ingram Micro, 1997 to 1999, and chief executive of Acxion 1999 to 2000.

“I am very pleased to be taking up this post at this very exciting time in the development of the CII,” said Scott. I have high hopes for the future of the CII and I look forward to taking it from strength to strength.”

He will take up the position on September 11.
