Yachting teams from general insurers Zurich and Aioi of Europe were pipped to the winning post by life company Scottish Equitable in the fourth annual Ward Evans Regatta.

The Scots life company claimed its first ever victory in the race, held in the choppy waters of the Solent.

Nine yachts, recently used in the BT Global Challenge around the world race, entered the competition and were crewed by a mix of clients, insurance company staff and professional sailors.

Ward Evans chief executive Mike Kenney was among the first to congratulate the Scottish Equitable crew, skippered by Duncan Singer.

“Team Scottish Equitable were at times inspired and thoroughly deserved their success, “ he said.

“Although conditions were challenging, thankfully there were no casualties and we lost no one overboard.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
