Ireland’s former richest man off the hook for now

Former Quinn Insurance boss Sean Quinn has been spared a prison sentence for contempt of court, according to Reuters.

Quinn, formerly Ireland’s richest man, was found guilty of contempt last week after Dublin’s High Court decided he had stopped Anglo Irish Bank from taking property worth £403m. The bank wants to claw back £2.99bn of debt from Quinn.

But Quinn escaped prison last Friday after Justice Elizabeth Dunne ruled that the court wanted more information on the Quinn family’s assets before any further ruling.
