Commercial underwriter begins next phase of expansion

Commercial underwriting agency Evolution Underwriting has appointed Scott Colyer to its board (subject to regulatory approval) and relocated its Kent headquarters to larger premises in Maidstone from Orpington.

Colyer, who joined the company at its inception in 2004, took up the role of divisional director of Evolution Underwriting in July.

Evolution Underwriting chief executive Paul Upton said: “We are delighted to welcome Scott to the board. It is gratifying to be able to promote one of the founders of our business to this new role and underlines our determination to promote from within wherever possible.

"Scott’s strengths are his technical underwriting experience and his ability to manage relationships with new and existing insurer partners. In this role and with Evolution’s ambitious long term growth plans he will be a vital part of the team. This is also a key component of our long term succession planning.”

Upton added: “The time was right for a move. We are effectively re-launching the business and the move to Evolution House gives us the right location with more space to grow as we continue to expand our portfolio of products to deliver exactly what independent regional brokers want.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
