New chief executives for group's three operating companies

Evolution Underwriting Group has announced a number of promotions reflecting changes to the board structures of the three companies within the operating group.

The company said the changes were a result of the group’s long-term strategy to widen its footprint in terms of insurance products, service offerings and external IT delivery capability.

Paul Upton is appointed chief executive officer of Evolution Underwriting, the commercial underwriting specialist. Upton, formerly chief underwriting officer, assumes executive responsibility for all insurance and distribution related aspects of the group’s activities.

Greg Hall is appointed chief executive officer of Evolution Technology Services. Hall, formerly chief software architect, will be responsible for the continued development of Evolution’s insurance trading platform Stingray as well as exploring commercial opportunities in the UK and global insurance technology markets.

Finally, Steve Burton, formerly group chief operating officer, is appointed chief executive officer of Evolution Risk Services. He will oversee the development of the group’s risk services business which complements and adds value to the core insurance offering.

Terry Wheatley, Evolution’s Group chairman and chief executive officer, said: “These appointments will allow Evolution to fully exploit the opportunities that improving market conditions will bring to the sector during the next few years. Evolution’s three operating companies are now optimized to take full advantage of an anticipated improving pricing climate and to continue to develop leading-edge products and services to support the independent broker.

“We have ambitious plans to develop both our insurance and non-insurance activities in some very innovative ways. From a personal point of view, I am delighted to be able to announce these promotions for three of the group’s founders who have worked so hard to deliver the outstanding technological and distribution platform that the group now operates.”

The changesl were effective from the 1 July 2008.
