This chip allows you to change your whole team without it costing you any points
Last week, I wrote an article on whether managers should use their triple captain chip on Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, given he was going up against a struggling Coventry City team.
Like many, I was expecting Haaland to score multiple goals and, as a result, I decided to play the chip.
However, Haaland only picked up one goal, meaning a 27-point return from the striker.
Of course, it is a return, but not the Bruno Fernandes-type return in gameweek two that managers using the chip would have been hoping for.
Still though, managers who triple captained Haaland find themselves in the top 10 in the Insurance Times Fantasy Football League.
Ben Iwanowytsch, who picked up 57 points last week using the chip, leads the way on 259 points, while Jamie Fletcher, who also played triple captain, sits second with 251 points.
Triple captain or wildcard?
Those managers who did not play their triple captain last week may choose to do so this week, with Chelsea taking on promoted side Hull City.
Chelsea’s Cole Palmer could be a good option, as well as striker Joao Pedro. However, one thing to note is that Hull have had an excellent start to their season, picking up two wins and a draw in three games.
They also have not conceded a goal in the Premier League yet, meaning goals against them could be tricky for Chelsea.
Meanwhile, managers may also be debating whether to play a wildcard this week. This chip allows you to change your whole team without it costing you any points.
Given Arsenal kept 19 clean sheets last season and have a favourable run coming up, stocking up on Arsenal defenders could be ideal.
Meanwhile, the official Fantasy Football page says that Leeds’ Anton Stach (£6.0m) and Brentford’s Vitaly Janelt (£5.0m) are both owned by under 3% of managers and have emerged as great all-round assets.
And Everton’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (£6.5m) and Newcastle United’s Yoane Wissa (£6.2m) have both offered excellent value over the early gameweeks.
