Senior insurance leaders join CII women’s taskforce

The CII has formed a new taskforce to create positive change and build new solutions to “risks that women face in life”. According to CII press release, the new taskforce will made up of senior insurance leaders. It will be part of the Insuring Women’s Futures (IWF) programme.

The new taskforce will focus on improving women’s awareness of the risks they face in life. It will seek to develop joined-up policy interventions. It will also work on new insurance solutions to risks faced by women.

In November, the CII urged the industry to tackle the gender pay gap, which is more pronounced in insurance than other industries.

CII chief executive, Sian Fisher commented: “Women today are increasingly left high and dry as the daily pressure of modern life rises, while the historic support systems recede. It’s a problem that affects men too, but to a lesser extent. This new task force will collaborate to drive real change for the benefit of society, helping to raise awareness and engagement among women of the risks they face in life, and how our profession can empower them to improve their resilience.”

Inga Beale, who is patron of the IWF programme, chief executive of Lloyd’s and president of the CII added: “Women are less engaged with insurance protection products and services than men, and as a consequence are under-protected. That is a risk for society, not just for women. This new task force will bring together expertise in a range of areas to work with the insurance profession to address this issue and drive real change.”
