Spain’s football fans get cover

Spain’s second largest bank Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria has signed a deal with Spain’s football league to give free accident cover to up to 500,000 fans attending matches, the Guardian reports.

The cover will pay €25,000 (£22,000) for an adult in case of death or permanent disablement through injury at a match. Fans only need to be in possession of a valid ticket.

Anyone attending Primera Liga or second division matches from Saturday would automatically receive free insurance cover, the bank said.

Official club fans would also be offered cover for the duration of travel to and from matches, BBVA said.
